What is Affidavit?

It is a written statement confirmed by oath or affirmation, for use as evidence in court.

AFFIDAVIT

It is a written statement sworn before a person having an authority to administer an oath or affirmation, to use as evidence in the Court of law. In India, it can be sworn or affirmed before: • An Judge or any Judicial or Executive Magistrate; • Any Commissioner of Oaths appointed by the High Court or the Court of Sessions; • Any Notary appointed under the Notaries Act, 1952.

4. What if one wants to change the content of the Affidavit?

In case a person wants to make changes in the draft, it should be authenticated by the initials of the Officer before whom the Affidavit was taken.
