What is a Liquor License?

- Firstly know that what kind of laws your state deal with. It means that you have to contact with the local authority to know about the laws related with liquor.
- a) Each state has alcoholic beverage control (ABC) that monitors the selling and buying of liquor.
- b) License quotes could help in selling the liquor at any place and at any time.
- There are two different types of liquor license.
On license means that the person is bound to consume the alcohol within the boundaries of the state or etc. and Off license means that the person is not bound to consume the alcohol within the respective boundaries or domain but can consume the alcohol outside that place .for instance, that of a liquor stores.
- Then find out under which specific class does fall your state – There is a class of liquor license and they are:
- Travern License
- Beer and Wine
- Restaurants License
If selling of the alcohol is your business’s essential work then you need this kind of licenses i.e. Tavern license.
Now Beer and Wine type of license is used when you are not willing to sell the liquor as a primary objective, and just serving it with the food and dinner.
Then comes the restaurants license, it is issued to sell any kind of alcohol in your premises but there is a limitation which has been imposed by the state on the revenue generated by the selling of alcohols. Tavern license is issued to the pubs and clubs.
Now comes second most important work and that is Navigating your application process.
1) As soon as you open your restaurant or hotel to run your business in selling liquor, you have to keep in mind that you have to take the license.
2) The costs vary in procuring a liquor license. Sometimes it’s too cheap and sometimes you have to issue your license from license quotas.
3) Consult to some lawyer also.
4) Write a wide description that what kind of your business would be running. Then write also about the quality, cost and more important which kind of liquor you are going to sell whether it is wine, beer, or hard liquor or a combination of two.
5) Fill application form and if required then you can even provide your documents.
6) Your application will be then publically displayed by the local authorities as s a proposal and you have to defend or it’s your duty to support it with either by documents or being aware.
And Last Part is of maintaining it. So the first step is to renew it yearly.
And be careful that your license can be revoked also, if you violate the terms and conditions authorized by the local authority.
