Learning Resource Centre (LRC) is a term which was coined in the United Kingdom to describe a type of  library  that exists within an educational setting such as Secondary SchoolsFurther Education Colleges and Universities.

Learning Resource Centre can be said as a hybrid collection as it includes highly selective collection of print, electronic and audio visual materials including books, journals, databases, CDs/DVDs, e-books, e-journals, reports, case studies, training manuals, and so on, which are of the best quality for all associated schools in the field of science, engineering, technology and management to support the learning and research activities of students and as well as for faculty.

Learning Resource Centre tried to create best ambience for its customers to delight them by providing and developing best and updated technology in its every transaction through its Wi-Fi and all other services. It has proactively met the changing needs of the user community by providing various services and information products. The mission of the LRC is to support all the students and to provide them with easy access, to best resource and technology for all those people who strive to gain information and knowledge related to any field.


LEARNING RESOURCE CENTRE [LRC] BOON FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE ANY INSTITUTION SUPPORT FOR THE RECRUITMENT

There are numerous people who are unemployed as they do not have enough qualification, as they can neither afford it nor there are enough institutes for the same. Thereof LRC provides opportunity for all those who either can’t afford institution fees or are not able to get exposure from institution in following ways: –

  • EFFECTIVE ACCESS TO LEARNING RESOURCE: –          LRC is a knowledge hub which provides access to various information resources from the latest management books, textbooks and audio-visual materials keeping in mind the changing needs of the academic community like electronic resources such as e-books, e-journals and databases.  It provides library services and access to information that support and enhances their research, teaching and learning activities. The collection of resources is a mix of; E-resources is 50%, Print resources are 30%, Non-conventional media includes 10% and Networking with other B-schools is also available by 10%.
  • ACCESS UPDATED TECHNOLOGY: – LRC hosts a magazine lounge, a browsing center and a media room. There are also multiple study rooms where students meet for group discussions. The LRC is fully Wi-Fi-enabled. It has fully computerized management. Users can search their desired information at their own desktop such as availability of books, current status of their account and new arrivals etc. through web OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue). At present LRC is having good collection of reference sources like hand book, standard, manuals, encyclopaedia, technical reports, project reports along with the prescribed text and reference books, and national & International printed journals. Apart from printed resources LRC is also having non printed materials, CD ROMs, full text e-journals and e-books
  • UPDATE WITH LATEST INFORMATION AND TECHONOLOGY:-         It ensure the highest level of user satisfaction and offer Reference Services, Research support, Circulation Services, Databases Training Support, User Guidance Service, Photocopy Service, Bibliographic Service, Document Delivery Service, Course Support, Online Catalogue Service, Selective Dissemination service through its in-house Info-products such as Course guide, Global Watch, Case Data Bank, Article Alert, Placement Guide and Current Awareness Service by providing new arrivals of books, TOC Service, and newly Published Reports. Though many of the services are IT driven, the LRC has well trained staff to support users for any kind of queries.
  • PROVIDE ADEQUATE SERVICES: –    LRC provides various services to its users like book Lending Service, Reference Service SDI, Current Awareness Services, SMS Alert Service, RSS Reprographic (photocopy) and Interlibrary Loan facilities to the students and faculty. It also offers limited services for Alumni, Professional, Institutional and Corporate Membership, thus opens doors for knowledge for various fields.

Therefore, I can conclude Learning Resource Centre (LRC) is definitely a boon for all those who doesn’t get adequate opportunity for better recruitment options as they do not have any exposure about the field where they want to work, LRC provides place for all those. LRC gives an opportunity to gain knowledge about different fields by easy access to various resources and updated technology. Hence even if any person does not get opportunity to experience any institutional support for the recruitment they might get best opportunity to train themselves and gain all the knowledge as all updated material and even various technologies are available for training. Though you might not have any institutional support but would have no less knowledge and exposure from those while going for recruitment.
